What is Guardini doing for Green Ray?

The Green Ray baking molds, manufactured by Guardini, are made of ECCS steel with non-stick coating. They are extremely performing molds because they have been conceived and designed to optimize the baking results.

Why ECCS steel? The oven is an insulated thermal chamber in which food is cooked by exposure to heat. During the baking process, contact occurs between a hot body, that is the oven mold, and a cold body, that is the food to be cooked. What is relevant in this process is the fact that the mold does not create a barrier between the heat source and the food. For such reason the thickness of the raw material is a very important aspect to take into consideration and ECCS steel is the ideal solution for such purpose, since it is a raw material entirely sourced in Europe which could be laminated at an optimized thickness for the cooking in the oven.

Guardini's expertise in steel processing has therefore allowed the creation of oven molds with optimized thickness, thus optimizing the amount of material used, avoiding unnecessary waste and reducing cooking times, with consequent energy saving.

The steel used for the baking trays is sourced with XCarb® green steel certificates from ArcelorMittal.
These XCarb® green steel certificates ensure a significant CO2 reduction related to the steel production which is also independently verified by auditor DNV. ArcelorMittal is committed to decarbonize steel production and to become a net-zero company by 2050.

When purchasing steel with XCarb® green steel certificates, Guardini will sustain the decarbonization investments of ArcelorMittal and the obtained certificate will enable the Company to calculate a corresponding reduction in its CO2 emissions related to the purchased steel.

Why the non-stick coating? The steel of the Green Ray oven molds is coated with a double-layer non-stick coating that guarantees excellent release and easy cleaning after use, ensuring a healthy and fat-free baking.

Furthermore, the coating of Green Ray molds comes from a more conscious and sustainable production process, which is PFAS free certified. PFAS are persistent chemical components that could harm the environment and removing them from the product and from the production process is a major step towards eco-sustainability. ILAG's commitment declared in the "Maximizing Green project" and in the "GO Future" strategy is concretized in the strong reduction of the environmental impact obtained thanks to the development of PFAS free coatings, the result of an absolutely innovative and recent technology.

In addition, the coating of the Green Ray molds is applied through the "coil coating" technology which permits to achieve zero dispersion into the environment during the coating application and guarantees uniform coverage of the entire surface of the mould for high non-stick performance and a longer product life cycle.

The production process of Green Ray molds takes place in a modern production plant with low environmental impact, free from atmospheric emissions and organized to reduce consumption of energy and resources.

Green Ray represents the state of art of Guardini’s production, since it is manufactured using the latest generation technologies in order to minimize the footprint on the environment.

"We believe that success does not depend only on economic results, but that the economic, social and environmental aspects must be harmonized and that we must commit ourselves every day with concrete actions to this target ". (Elena Guardini - CEO)
